Counterpoint Research Releases Q3 2024 Global Best-Selling Smartphone Ranking
(November 7th, 2024), market research firm Counterpoint Research released the global best-selling smartphone ranking for the third quarter of 2024. The report shows that Apple's iPhone 15 standard model took the top spot with a 3.5% market share.
In the third quarter, the top ten best-selling smartphones globally accounted for 19% of market sales. Among them, Apple had four models, Samsung had five, and Xiaomi had one.
On the Apple side, the iPhone 15 not only became the world's best-selling smartphone, but the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro also followed closely behind. Notably, the iPhone Pro series accounted for over 50% of sales this quarter for the first time.
On the Samsung side, the Galaxy S24, thanks to its strong marketing of GenAI capabilities, entered the top ten for the third consecutive quarter, marking the first time the Galaxy S series has been in the top ten in the third quarter since 2018. Additionally, the Galaxy A series also performed well, with four models making it into the top ten, successfully attracting consumers in the entry-level and mid-range markets with competitive pricing and longer software support.
On the Xiaomi side, the Redmi 13C 4G maintained its position in the top ten for two consecutive quarters due to its affordable price and strong performance in emerging markets.
