iPod shuffle
The iPod shuffle is a portable digital multimedia player released by Apple Inc. on January 11, 2005 at the Macworld Conference&Expo, belonging to the lightest product line of the iPod series.
This product uses flash memory as the storage medium. The initial version weighs 22 grams and provides 512MB/1GB of storage space (approximately 120-240 songs). It has no display design and supports audio formats such as MP3 and AAC. However, due to the limitations of the SigmaTel processor, it cannot play Apple Lossless and AIFF format files. The evaluation believes that it provides better sound quality performance in the iPod series.
The first generation adopts a long strip chewing gum design, equipped with a detachable USB plug at the bottom [5] [8]. The second generation was changed to a clip on aluminum magnesium alloy body in September 2006, with the addition of fixed clips.
The third generation, launched in 2009, introduced headphone remote control and VoiceOver voice function, supporting battery playback and 20 language recognition [5-6]. The fourth generation returned to the square clip on appearance in 2010, offering six colors including deep space gray, gold, etc. The weight was reduced to 12.5 grams, and the storage capacity was expanded to 2GB. All models in the series are equipped with a random play mode, with a battery life of 10-15 hours.
On July 28, 2017, Apple announced the discontinuation of the iPod shuffle and its removal from its official website.
