Intel may produce some chips for Apple iPhone by 2028
According to foreign media reports, after Intel chips faded out of Apple's Mac product line for more than three years, there were rumors at the end of last year that the two companies were expected to cooperate again on chips. However, unlike before, Apple did not purchase chips from Intel, but rather had Intel manufacture chips for Apple. Renowned Apple product analyst Guo Mingchi revealed that Apple plans to use Intel's 18A process technology to manufacture some M-series chips for Mac and iPad, and Intel may start supplying them as early as mid-2027.
But for the new cooperation between Apple and Intel on chips, a different expectation was given by an analyst at the end of last year. He expected that Apple and Intel would reach an agreement to supply at least some non Pro version iPhone chips, using the 14A process technology, starting from 2028. Based on the time point of 2028 given by analysts at that time, foreign media believed that Intel's OEM for Apple may be some A21 or A22 chips.
In the latest report to investors, this analyst still believes that Intel will manufacture some chips for Apple using the 14A process technology. It is reported that Intel's process technology is ready for mass production in 2028.
However, as previously expected, analysts believe that even if Intel joins the foundry industry, TSMC will still be the main contract manufacturer for Apple chips, and there is currently no news indicating that Intel will participate in the design of Apple chips. But as for whether Intel will manufacture some iPhone chips for Apple, it depends on whether both parties will announce relevant information in the future, which is currently only analysts' prediction.
