Apple iPhone Fold
The iPhone Fold is Apple's first foldable screen phone planned to be released in September 2026. Adopting a book style folding design, the folded body size is 83.8x120.6 × 9.6mm, with an external screen of 5.49 inches (2088 × 1422 resolution); The unfolded size is 167.6 × 120.6 × 4.8mm, with an inner screen of 7.76 inches (2713 × 1920 resolution, 4:3 ratio), which is close to the display area of iPad mini and can be directly compatible with iPad application ecology. It is considered to use a composite protective structure covered with transparent polyimide film and ultra-thin glass.
After folding, the thickness is 9-9.5mm, and when unfolded, it is about 4.5-4.8mm. The body frame is made of titanium alloy material, effectively preventing bending. The hinges are made of titanium alloy and stainless steel, balancing durability and smooth folding
In January 2026, supply chain analysts revealed that the phone would be produced as a high-end model of the iPhone 18 series, synchronized with the iPhone 18 Pro series, while the standard version of the iPhone 18 would be delayed until spring 2027. Foxconn had set up a dedicated production line, but the hinges and batteries still did not meet the production requirements.
The titanium alloy body frame, combined with liquid metal hinges, achieves the industry's first nearly wrinkle free folding screen through new polymer filling technology and multi link support structure. The hinges are equipped with metal stress dispersion plates and require 200000 fold tests. Equipped with TSMC's 2nm process manufactured A20 Pro chip and 12GB LPDDR5X memory, equipped with 5400-5800mAh silicon carbon negative electrode battery, and rear dual 48 megapixel cameras.
The external screen adopts a single hole front facing camera, and the internal screen integrates a bottom facing camera to achieve true full screen display. It supports side fingerprint recognition (power button integrates Touch ID) and cancels Face ID. The volume button is moved to the top right side of the body. In terms of communication, it is equipped with Apple's self-developed C2 baseband, which only supports eSIM mode.
