Apple iPhone Fold

Apple's first foldable screen phone may be delayed again. Previously, major media outlets predicted that the iPhone Fold would be released simultaneously with the iPhone 18 Pro series in 2026.

But according to the latest information from the supply chain, the iPhone Fold may be delayed until 2027. Although Apple has not officially released any relevant information, the industry generally believes that it will have a disruptive impact on the global folding screen market landscape. At present, institutions have produced rendering drawings of the machine based on CAD drawings and exposed detailed body data and core configurations.

The body size and screen specifications have become the focus of this exposure. Data shows that the iPhone Fold adopts a horizontal folding form, with a body size of 83.8mm × 120.6mm × 9.6mm in the folded state, equipped with a 5.49-inch external screen and a resolution of 2088 × 1422 pixels. Compared with the current mainstream straight board machine, it will be wider and shorter, and there may be inconvenience in operation when held with one hand due to the larger width.

After unfolding, the screen size of the device is about 7.76 inches, and the thickness of the body is suddenly reduced to 4.8mm, with a size of 167.6mm × 120.6mm. The screen resolution is increased to 2713 × 1920 pixels, and the display effect is more delicate. This folding ratio is similar to the early OPPO Find N models, but it achieves a significant breakthrough in slimness, bringing a better grip feel.

In terms of screen technology and hinge design, the iPhone Fold demonstrates a flagship level. The CAD drawings show that the internal screen is equipped with under screen lens technology, achieving a complete screen display effect without openings. To solve the common problem of creases in foldable screens, Apple has equipped the device with a reinforced hinge system. By incorporating a metal stress dispersing plate, the screen bending stress can be effectively reduced, achieving a display effect of "almost no creases".

In terms of core configuration, the iPhone Fold is on par with the iPhone 18 Pro series and will be equipped with the A20 series chip, with performance that is worth looking forward to. On the communication module, the device will be equipped with Apple's second-generation self-developed C2 baseband, while eliminating the traditional SIM card slot and fully adopting eSIM for communication connection. This design is also in line with Apple's product technology roadmap in recent years.
